Tuesday our sailboat cruise was canceled due to the iffy weather. We are tentatively rescheduled for Thursday.
We decided we would go snorkel at Haulover Bay.
From this bay you can easily walk to the north shore which is on the open ocean.
We first settled in on the bay side, the sun was coming and going but it was not raining.
June and I bought new snorkel masks for this trip, they are full face. I have to admit they seem to work better with less leaking. The down side is that they are big and you can't just set it up on your head when you want a break from the mask and since it is a full face it is a bit more claustrophobic.
Overall, they work quite well.
It is good snorkeling in Haulover
.
After snorkeling a bit we took a break, had snacks and sandwiches.
We decided to take the short hike to the north shore and were pleasantly surprised to come across a large migration of hermit crabs. We have no idea where they were headed but there were 100s of them moving across the forest floor.
We had to be very careful not to step on them.
The fish were plentiful, I chased a few.
After snorkeling we made our way back being very careful not to squash any of the Hermit Crabs, they were so cute.
They make a good 'Pain Killer' and Creamsicle!
Attached to Skinny Legs is the local Tee Shirt Shop, I purchased a sun rash guard, even though I wore a shirt snorkeling, I am pretty crispy.
We also did a bit of island touring, scouting out places to visit in the coming days. It was another good day, we stopped at the store and got dinner provisions. Things are expensive here, one pound of hamburger that shrunk to 1/2 its size was $13 per pound...such a deal. As Em would say, "First World Problem".
Wednesday we are thinking we will explore Water Lemon Cay for snorkeling.
Another good snorkeling day. The hermit crabs made our day, so cute, all of their shells are different.
ReplyDeleteThe hermit crabs - so interesting to watch! Not something I thought we'd see.
